The system used in the distribution of the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) should be reviewed to avoid the long wait by recipients for the payment, said Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
A such, he said, he would propose to the cabinet the use of coupons with serial numbers by BR1M recipients.
"This will make easier for recipients as they can change the coupons for cash," he told a media conference at the BR1M presentation ceremony to 1,500 recipients in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency today.
Mohamed Nazri, who is Padang Rengas Member of Parliament, said the huge turnout of BR1M recipients at the event proved that the initiative taken by the government help the people was well-received.
He said it proved wrong the claim by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad that BR1M is a form of corruption.
"If they (recipients) think that BR1M is corruption, they would not have come to take it," he added.
