PAS rips up 'RM90m cheque' claim

PAS today said the picture of a cheque made out of RM90 million, said to prove claims the Islamist party received the funds from suspect sources, does not make sense.
PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Abdullah said the picture now circulating on the internet showed an unsigned cheque which no bank would accept.
"How can you cash and bank in a cheque if it is not signed? It would be very stupid of a bank to accept an unsigned cheque," he said in a recent ceramah in Besut, Terengganu.
He was commenting on allegations made by former PAS vice-president Husam Musa that PAS received RM90 million from questionable sources.
The Salor assemblyperson claimed that he even knew the details of the bank account the funds were allegedly transfered into and challenged PAS to take legal action if he is wrong.

PAS Youth had lodged police reports against Husam who is now an Amanah member.
Commenting further, Mohd Amar expressed regret that some PKR leaders can believe such claims against PAS.
He said this despite PAS standing by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim who was convicted of sodomy twice.
"Anwar was convicted of sodomy twice but PAS never believed this of him, and now all of a sudden PKR can believe the allegation PAS received RM90 million without any evidence given," he said.- Mkini
