PEKAN – The criticism being levelled by a former Umno politician against the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar is an attempt to sow confusion and chaos among the people, said Pahang Umno Deputy Chairman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin. Sharkar said that the criticism by the veteran politician shows that he is willing to sacrifice his principles in order to fulfil his objectives.
“This is a very critical (problem) because the Sultan is above politics,” he said, adding that politicians come and go, but the Sultan of each state remains the same.
Sharkar added that the politician in question is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the collapse of the present government.
“I hope the people will understand that whatever is being done by that person is merely for his personal benefit,” he said. Recently, Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar took to task a veteran politician known for his “Melayu mudah lupa’ (Malays forget easily) quote.
The politician being referred to is believed to be former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is now collaborating with the opposition.
