Pakatan Harapan to register with ROS

Pakatan Harapan has resolved to register the coalition with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) following the incorporation of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
According to Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) chairperson Mohamad Sabu, Harapan's presidential council has decided not to adopt Bersatu's suggestions for a new name.
"Our decision is to register Harapan, with the names of 18 senior (component party) leaders," said Mohamad after a meeting at the opposition leader's office in Parliament today.
He said party leaders also agreed on having a common logo and coalition manifesto to face the elections.
Preliminary seat negotiations are also underway.
Mohamad, popularly known as Mat Sabu, said such matters will be discussed in finer details by a technical committee at a later stage.
Expect polls after September
The participants at the meeting, among others, were PKR vice-president Mohamed Azmin Ali, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution, Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang.
Mat Sabu chaired the meeting as opposition leader and PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was not well.
Meanwhile, Mahathir said the coalition leaders did not discuss whether the coalition needs to be a "Malay-led" coalition.

"We were discussing about the distribution of seats and only the principle (behind it), not the actual division of seats," he said.
On the expected election date, Mahathir predicted that it would take place after September.
"According to the schedule of leave, functions and anniversaries, it should be between September this year to March of next year.
"It will be before his term ends," said Mahathir.- Mkini
