SIBU – Police here have arrested a 16-year-old school dropout who allegedly raped an underage girl, resulting in her pregnancy.
The case came to light when the 13-year old girl’s father, who is a construction worker, sent her to the Oya Road Polyclinic for a medical check-up.
The doctor attending to her found her to be 31 weeks pregnant. Following a police report lodged by the 57-year old father, the police went to a house at Pasai Siong late Tuesday night where the youth was nabbed.
The suspect admitted to the offence, saying that the sex was consensual.
District police chief ACP Saiful Bahari said the case was being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for statutory rape.
