By delaying action, MACC helping the corrupt stay in power

YOURSAY | ‘Do you think the winning party would allow you to act against their leaders once it has won GE14?
Kim Quek: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Dzulkifli Ahmad, you must be either day dreaming or dishonest.
Do you think the winning party would allow you to act against any of their leaders once it has won GE14?
You will be sacked in no time the moment you show any sign of doing so, like how former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail was terminated even before he knew it.
The right time to act is the moment you have the incriminating evidence. And your declaration of no action before the election is a blank cheque to the corrupt party to openly “buy” the election without inhibition, for it knows that you either don’t have the courage or you will be removed before you could act.
Dzulkifli, your current declaration of suspension of action against politicians until after GE14 is widely perceived as an excuse for your cowardice to act on the world-famous corruption crimes involving 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion scandal despite the abundance of intractable criminal evidence.
Worse, it is also an outright breach of law for you to declare such a temporary “amnesty”, for no one under the federal constitution has the power to do so.
Vijay47: Dzulkifli, you urge us to be patient as MACC would be taking action, notwithstanding your strange theory that immediate action would be seen as favouritism.
Perhaps you can explain to make things easier to understand. Mr A is a politician and Mr B a businessman who are alleged to have indulged in corruption, either jointly or separately. Who would you act against "straightaway"?
Mr X and Mr Y, again a politician and a businessman respectively, commit murder, either of the same victim or of different persons. Again, who would you arrest "straightaway"? Just asking.
Anonymous 2460391489930458: Yes, this is a lame excuse to not do his job. Dzulkifli is supposed to carry out his duty without fear or favour. Instead he argued that his action to arrest politicians would be seen as favouritism. Nonsense!
Saving the nation from top-level corruption can never be interpreted as favouritism by any stretch of the imagination.
Bluemountains: Indeed, if Dzulkifli acts against the corrupt politicians only after GE14, he is doing them a big favour. He is in fact giving such politicians the opportunity to win the election and remain in power.
Once in power, Dzulkifli may not be able to touch them again. Will he then wait until after GE15 to go after these politicians again?
Politician: Dzulkifli, you are doing a great job, but at the same time you are not acting on cases with evidence from inside and outside the country.
It appears like you are just wasting time catching the small players.
Wake Up: To be fair, give Dzulkifli some time. He is an outspoken man. His job is not as easy as many people may think.
While going after corrupt people, MACC has also have to deal with political interference. If he acts too fast, then there may be hidden hands to remove him.
Anyway, we believe this time around, things will be different. It is already very obvious corruption is widespread in Malaysia and that it needs a lot of work to minimise it. Let us wait and see. Let them do their job.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Dzulkifli, you need not wait that long to catch the big one. Right now, there is the biggest of all crooks, who is visible even to the blind, right in front of you.
Get him, and all critics would be silenced instantly.
1Citizen: How about postponing the general election instead until the corrupt officials are named and charged? That makes more sense.
That will make the government fall naturally, followed by clean and fair elections, something the country has not seen for a long time.
Wake Up: In fact, MACC will be doing the rakyat a great favour if they can help do the clean-up before the corrupt get elected.
If MACC has evidence against them, why wait until the election is over?
Ravinder: The MACC’s tune would be different if the corrupt politicians were from the opposition. Why must Dzulkifli help corrupt politicians by allowing them to stand for election in the first place?
The big talk about all-out fight against corruption turns out to be empty talk when special favour is shown to politicians in BN.
Anonymous 5: So far when it came to opposition party members and leaders, there was no time wasted to arrest, detain and charge them, and Penang CM Lim Guan Eng’s case is one example.
Why no political or GE14 considerations for him?
Anonymous 2436471476414726: MACC chief, if you look at the postings here, the overwhelming majority are in favour of you taking action against corrupt politicians now instead of waiting after the election. You must listen to such opinion.

There is no need to fear that such action may become fodder for the election. You owe it to the rakyat (not to the politicians) that you perform your duties without fear or favour.
For god’s sake, you are a civil servant not a politician.- Mkini
