Molest suspect dies after beating, five in custody

A man who ended up in a coma after being assaulted by a group of people for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman in Alor Setar on Sunday, has died.
Bernama quoted Kota Setar police chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin saying the suspect died about 12.30pm today, while undergoing treatment at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), where he was admitted on Sunday evening.

"We have detained five men and a woman, all in their 20s, to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said, adding that the suspects, who were remanded today, were identified based on the pictures and video of the incident, which has gone viral.
The incident happened about 4pm last Sunday when the 31-year-old suspect allegedly outraged the modesty of a woman in the toilet of a building housing computer equipment and cellphone outlets in Jalan Putra. He was assaulted by members of the public, and sustained serious injuries to the face, ears, body and leg.
The victim's sister lodged a police report after she watched the viral assault video.- Mkini
