KUALA LUMPUR: Long-haul low-cost carrier, AirAsia X took off on its maiden flight from Kuala Lumpur to Honolulu today, and landed safely at the Daniel K Inouye International Airport, with an over 90% load factor.
“This landmark route to Hawaii is a bold new chapter in that quest to help more people travel further for less.
“This is just the beginning. Our guests will soon be able to enjoy flights to many more destinations in the US, as we continue to grow our international footprint,” said AirAsia X Chairperson, Rafidah Aziz in a statement today.
The D7 001 flight marked the first foray into the US market for AirAsia X. It will fly four times a week to Honolulu.
To celebrate the inaugural flight, AirAsia X is offering a one-way fare from as low as RM899 for standard seats and RM2,999 for the award-winning Premium Flatbed.
Bookings are from today until July 2 for travel between Oct 1, 2017 and Aug 28, 2018.
Guests transiting in Osaka do not require a Japanese visa during the two-hour stopover, and can return to their seats after clearing security, with any carry-on luggage or belongings. -FMT
