Dr M to seek clarity on PKR rift at Harapan meet

Pakatan Harapan will seek clarification regarding the internal rift within PKR over engagements with PAS, said the coalition chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“We will be having a presidential council meeting tomorrow and we will determine what is actually going on,” he told a press conference in Gombak tonight.
Mahathir, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairperson, had attended his party's youth wing's fundraising dinner.
The former prime minister was also asked to comment about PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli's call for a special congress to resolve the rift within PKR.
However, Mahathir said he had yet to scrutinise the statements and reserved comment.
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who is also Harapan election director, had previously said there were ongoing informal negotiations with PAS.
He later clarified that the talks were spearheaded by PKR and did not involve its Harapan partners.

Differences over whether PKR should continue to engage PAS boiled overWednesday when Selayang MP William Leong quit from the party's political bureau in protest of the talks.
Rafizi earlier today revealed that PKR was split on many levels with regard to working with PAS and wanted the matter to be decided through a vote to put it to rest once and for all.
PAS Ulama treasurer Khairuddin Aman Razali was adamant that there will be no talks with Harapan parties despite PKR claiming that informal talks were ongoing. -Mkini
