Mystery of 176 bullets found near dumpsite in Hulu Langat

The 9mm bullets were discovered by a cyclist.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 176 SME 8-02 live bullets were found scattered near a dumpsite in Hulu Langat near here today.

Kajang district police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusof said the 9mm bullets were discovered by a passer-by who was cycling along Jalan Batu 14 towards Jalan Ampang about 9.10am.

“Initially, he saw metal lumps that looked like bullets and immediately contacted 999 to relate the matter to the police.

“Subsequently, a team from the Kajang Criminal Investigation Department and the 14th mile police station went to the location to check and found the 176 bullets scattered by the roadside,” he said in a statement here today.

According to Dzaffir, there was no shooting range in the vicinity and police did not receive any report on the loss of the ammunition.

All the bullets were sent to the Selangor police contingent Weaponry Division for testing and authentication, he added. -FMT
