Parliament to probe BN logo appearance during Budget tabling

PARLIAMENT | The Dewan Rakyat has instructed a probe into the claim that Barisan Nasional's logo appeared during the 'live' television screening in the House when Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak tabled Budget 2018 last Friday.

This follows a motion by Kasthuri Patto (DAP-Batu Kawan) to call for the August House to investigate the matter.
"Right after the prime minister's speech, (the) BN logo appeared on the screen in the House. I call for (the Dewan Rakyat) to investigate and identify how the logo of a political party found its way into the House," Kasthuri said.

"Is this a new convention?" she questioned.
"I know that the House is used to other times where the flags and logos of parties (would be displayed). But this was during the sitting.
"In other countries, their governments are accountable to their Parliament, not the other way round," she noted.
Deputy Speaker Ismail Mohamed Said, who chaired the sitting, agreed to investigate the matter.
"Well, the secretary will investigate and study the matter and come back to you," Ismail told Kasthuri.
