HIS DIRTY CORRUPTION SPLASHED OUT INTO THE OPEN, YET APANDI BACKS OFF FROM SUING NAJIB’S TOP BLOGGER: ‘NO POINT TO SUE RPK, HE IS A BANKRUPT’ – AG

Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali has yet to file a lawsuit against blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin over the latter’s “highly defamatory” article about him.
This is because Raja Petra has been found to be “bankrupt”, according to Apandi.
“I’m still considering, before this I checked (and found) he is bankrupt.
“So I’m thinking whether it is worth it to go against a bankrupt. I’ll be spending money and at the end of the day, I get nothing (in return).
“I’m still thinking,” he told Malaysiakini when met between meetings at the eighth Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) meeting between Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam in Putrajaya this morning.
Apandi previously vowed to sue Raja Petra “till kingdom come” and later lodged a police report against him for criminal defamation.
Raja Petra, who currently resides in the United Kingdom, published an article in three parts titled “Strong Rumours Surrounding the AG” last month, which alleged corruption involving Apandi when he served as a Federal Court judge.
Apandi denied the allegation, calling it “fake news”.
Courts should decide on Lingam
Meanwhile, Apandi said it was a decision for the court when asked if the government will use instruments like the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 2002 (MLA) to arrest senior lawyer VK Lingam (photo) after he was charged for contempt of court while overseas.
“So whether they (the courts) want to pursue (Lingam), the question should be posed to the courts,” he said.
“The sentence was for contempt of court.
Earlier this month, the five-member bench of the Federal Court found Lingam guilty and sentenced him to six months’ jail for accusing a member of the bench of being involved in plagiarism.
Lingam, 66, was neither present in court nor represented at the hearing. He is believed to be in the United States.
Lingam was previously implicated in the judicial fixing crisis.
