Mukhriz's ticks off new ROS boss' for casting media limelight

Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir ticked off the Registrar of Societies' (ROS) new director-general Surayati Ibrahim's approach by casting media limelight over the party's status.
"We have decided not to negotiate with the ROS through the media but instead we find that the director-general herself releasing such statements which do not help to resolve the issue," he told a press conference in Kedah today.
Earlier this month, the ROS announced that Bersatu Youth was not authorised to use the name "Armada" and could cause the party to be deregistered.
ROS also highlighted that Bersatu had failed to hold an annual general assembly.
Bersatu had since submitted a number of waiver requests to the ROS concerning its party constitution and annual general assembly.
The ROS said it will study the requests but said that they could contravene the Societies Act 1966.
Mukhriz said the legal representatives of ROS and Bersatu should have met instead of airing the matter in the media.
"I think it is not fair for the ROS to already appear to reject the suggestions we submitted before the meeting takes place," he said.
The press conference was streamed live on Facebook.
Bersatu is currently facing the threat of deregistration if the party fails to resolve its internal issues and hold their annual general assembly which was due in September. - Mkini
