Najib serves free lunch at Jamal’s restaurant

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak spent the afternoon serving free lunch at Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos’ restaurant in Kuala Lumpur today.
In a series of images tweeted by the prime minister’s official press office this afternoon, Najib is seen dishing out food to customers and sitting with them while accompanied by Jamal.
The caption reads “Prime Minister Najib Razak spent time with the customers at the Gabungan NGO 1Malaysia restaurant that serves free lunch to Malaysians from all walks of life in Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur at midday today”.
Open to all Malaysians, and only Malaysians, the restaurant was launched last month with the aim of serving free food to 1,000 people every weekday, for the next three years.
Despite announcing his intention to run for Umno Youth chief, Jamal has denied harbouring political motives behind the free food programme, explaining that he had been driven to do so by his realisation that material wealth was not transcendent.
The philanthropic venture is a departure from what he was infamous for - leading the racially-charged Red Shirts rally to counter Bersih 4.0 and more recently, smashing beer bottles with a sledgehammer outside the Selangor Secretariat office.
He has been arrested multiple times for his stunts.- Mkini
