Number of Kelantan flood victims rises to 317



The number of flood victims evacuated to relief centres in the state rose to 317 people from 89 families as at 9.30pm, as compared to 157 victims from 36 families, about three hours earlier.
Continuous heavy rain since yesterday caused some low-lying areas at several districts in Kelantan to be flooded.


According to the Social Welfare Department via the Infobanjir application, in the Kota Bharu district, 98 victims from 21 families were evacuated to two relief centres, namely the Islamic Outreach of the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM), Kok Lanas (77) and the Melor Market People's Hall (21) Kota Bharu.
Meanwhile in Pasir Mas, 50 victims from 15 families were placed in Madrasah Haji Daud while in Tanah Merah, 17 victims from four families sought accomodation in Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kelewek, Bukit Panau.
In Pasir Puteh, 152 victims from 49 families were sheltered at three relief centres, namely SK Kamil I (32 victims), SK Changgai (96) and SK Wakaf Raja (24).
According to the portal infobanjir.water.gov.my, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, water level in all major rivers are still at normal level except for Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang which rose to 8.13 metres (danger level: nine metres) at 9pm yesterday compared to 7.76 metres in the evening.
