Pakistan Flushes Itself Further Down The Toilet

The jihadis and terrorists are taking centre stage in Pakistan.

Over the past 20  days (since Nov 8th) a crisis has been unfolding in Pakkstan. It has just ended with the deaths of six people, a few policemen being beaten and tortured by jihadis and hundreds more injured.

It has created more distrust because the Army initially refused a High Court order to help clear some religious protesters. Finally the Army did come in to clear the protesters - resulting in the seven dead. Dont worry. There are still 200 million Pakistanis left.

The protest began when the Pakistanis govt tabled a bill in Parliament (to streamline some election laws) where an oath of office for the Prime Minister was slightly amended to say 'I believe in the finality of the Prophet Muhammad' (disliked by jihadis) from saying  'I swear in the finality of the prophet Muhammad' (agreed by jihadis)  or something like that. This is called the oath of Khatama Nubuwwat (the finality of the prophethood)

It was designed to make sure  that none of the Ahmadiyah sect - quite a large sect in Pakistan - get to become Prime Minister. The Ahmadiyah does not believe that Muhammad was the last prophet. They believe their leader was also a prophet.

You may be wondering what I believe.
Well I believe that I am just a cyber messenger.
Ha ha ha.

Anyway to make a long story short

  • the Pakistani Tehreeki   Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLY)
  • the Tehreek-i-Khatm-i-Nabuwwat
  • and the Sunni Tehreek Pakistan (ST)

occupied the main traffic Interchange in Islamabad, which connects Rawalpindi and Islamabad - the busiest roads in the twin cities.  For 20 days. They paralysed the capital city until they were evicted yesterday.

The agitators believed that in the Elections Act 2017, the Khatm-i-Nabuwwat oath was deliberately modified as part of a larger conspiracy.

Finally the government of Pakistan surrendered to the jihadis. Not only was the amendment removed but the law minister was forced to resign and the government had to pay each of the protesters 1000 Pakistanis Rupees for bus fare to go home.

Pakistan regularly exchanges artillery fire with India on its eastern borders.
Pakistan regularly exchanges fire with Iran on its south western borders.
Pakistan regularly exchanges fire with Afghanistan on its western borders.

If Pakistan had more borders, they would possibly exchange more fire with even more neighbors. This country is totally screwed.
