‘What did Umno do wrong?’ Ku Nan asks 'angry' students

The Malay youth of today must reflect upon themselves and remember Umno's contributions to them, which has made them the successes they are today, said party secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
This is because, despite providing them with the opportunity to pursue the best tertiary education, many youths are unhappy with the ruling Malay party, he said.
"Because of Umno policies, you get to enter university. If you don't get into one in Malaysia, we will send you overseas. (But) when you come back to Malaysia, you try to be clever and get mad at Umno.
"What did Umno do wrong? When you go back, reflect, who am I, who are my parents, how did I become who I am. Reflect on it, because we have forgotten that even though we are Muslims, we are not grateful for what we have," Tengku Adnan told a group of students in Kuala Lumpur today.
He was speaking at the Nadi Negara Awards ceremony, a Wanita Umno initiative which honours the achievements of university graduates, at the Putra World Trade Centre.
Tengku Adnan said it was unfair for students who benefited from government policies to attack the present administration.
“I ask you to avoid just going to university to get certificates, then insulting the government when you start working.
"We educated you, gave you (a chance to pursue) a degree, a diploma. We don't promise you work, but as a responsible government, we make it easier for our students to enter government institutions or GLCs," he said.
The Putrajaya MP said he raised the matter of honouring Umno's contributions because of the opposition’s incessant attacks against the Umno-BN administration, for allegedly failing to govern the country.
He said this was just an attempt to divide Malaysians, and stressed that Umno must remain in power to defend the rights of the Malays.
"We are not a perfect government, but (let us) trust in the leadership of today under Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. He is ready to make change." -Mkini
