Burnt hand doesn't stop Johor ruler from gracing Thaipusam event

A burn injury on his right hand due to kitchen mishaps did not stop Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar from attending the state's annual Thaipusam celebrations today.
State exco R Vidyananthan greeted the ruler who arrived at around noon at the Sri Subramaniar temple in Tampoi, Johor Baru.
Also present was the ruler's third son, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim.
Although his injured right hand prevented him from shaking hands with the people, the ruler still received warm greetings and cries of "Daulat Tuanku".
According to a statement, the ruler who has a penchant for cooking had sustained burns to his right hand on Sunday while preparing food for his children.
Before departing from the temple this afternoon, the ruler was also treated to a special lunch and granted some time for his subjects.
The ruler had earlier this week said he did not want to disappoint his subjects and would still show up for the celebrations despite his injury.- Mkini
