Why Islamic Societies (Plus Some Others) Continue To Fail.

Here is the simple answer : they do not use  reason and science. They actually reject reason and science. 

The first and only misstep is that without the use of reason, science, logic, thinking, question and criticism, without evidence based knowledge a society will not be able to develop good moral values or good virtues.

Without the use of reason, the society will become bereft of good virtues. 

Instead the society will uphold vices and aberrant behaviours as its virtues. 

For example in my previous post, you can read so called islamic scholars saying that it is permissible for a man to marry his own daughter, subject to the daughter being born out of wedlock. Anak haram. In Malay this is called "bapa zina kahwin anak zina".

Only a society that has completely lost its capacity to use reason will even imagine saying sick things like this. But the so called scholars have gone beyond imagining. They actually believe and implement such satanic beliefs. These beliefs are clearly satanic. Yet they are upheld as part of the good behaviour and moral values of the society.

Then they do not stop there. This society will use aggression and violence against those people who question such satanic beliefs. The people who question them can get arrested, put in jail, beaten up by village mobs or even killed as apostates. 

In other words this type of society will wage war against thinking. 

They will wage war against the use of reason.

They rightly say that prostitution is bad.

But kahwin mutah, nikah misyar, jihad nakaha (sex jihad) are all ok.

These are a very sick people.

They rightly say having multiple mistresses is bad.

But keeping sex slaves is ok.

These are a very sick people.

And in great contradiction, these beliefs are NOT found in the Quran.

Did Allah forget to write these down ? Not likely.

Plus they simply cannot provide evidence for what they say.

No evidence either in the Quran or in science and reason.

They just do not have evidence.
