AirAsia plane makes emergency landing at Okinawa

An AirAsia aircraft made an emergency landing on Monday at Okinawa's Naha Airport because of engine trouble, China's Xinhua news agency quoted Japan's Ministry of Transport as saying.
None of the 379 passengers and crew members aboard the AirAsia X flight bound for Kuala Lumpur was injured in the emergency landing by the Malaysian budget carrier.
The ministry said the aircraft's right engine indicated problems at 2.15am local time, forcing the captain to shut down the troubled engine and declare an emergency landing.
The aircraft touched down at Naha Airport at 3am local time. It had initially departed from Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
In a statement later, AirAsia X confirmed that Flight D7 523, bound for Kuala Lumpur from Tokyo, Japan, was diverted to Okinawa due to a technical issue.
"A rescue flight will be launched from Kuala Lumpur and all affected guests will be transferred to Flight D7 689, which is scheduled to depart from Okinawa at 2130hrs (GMT +9 local time) on Feb 26, 2018, and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 0200hrs (GMT +8 local time) on Feb 27, 2018.
"All necessary assistance is being provided to guests on board and they will be kept updated on the new departure time," said the statement.- Mkini
