Successes promoted at expo not Mukhriz's efforts - Kedah Umno

Kedah Umno Youth today condemned the claim by Kedah Pakatan Harapan chairperson Mukhriz Mahathir that the successes of the state government on display at the Kedah Muafakat Expo were his achievements as the menteri besar then.

Its chief Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin said the successes highlighted at the expo were the result of the efforts and achievements of the current menteri besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, in the past two years of his leadership.

“Mukhriz’s statement is childish. In the three years that he was the menteri besar, we did not see much achievement in Kedah. There were only controversies and ideas that could not be implemented.

On the contrary, Ahmad Bashah brought much success to Kedah in the past two years. Furthermore, the problems during the Mukhriz administration were solved by the current menteri besar,” he told reporters in Alor Setar.

Mukhriz (photo) claimed yesterday that most of the successes of the state government displayed at the Kedah Muafakat Expo were the result of his efforts since 2013 when he was the menteri besar.

Shaiful Hazizy said Ahmad Bashah’s good relationship with Prime Minister Najib Razak and the federal government had helped a great deal to ensure continuity of the planned development.

"When there is a good relationship with the national leadership, many things can be settled. Mukhriz had often found fault with the federal government, and had claimed that applications were not approved.

"We implement what we promise, unlike them who harp on issues and condemn the state government. I can state here that Mukhriz’s was a failed administration,” he said.

Ahmad Bashah said yesterday that the success and performance of the state government displayed at the expo was not the achievement of any one individual or the menteri besar.

The success was the result of the cooperation of various quarters which worked together to advance the state, he said.
