QUICK-THINKING YEE KEW GETS THE NOD TO CONTEST DESPITE I.C. SCARE AFTER GETTING PKR COMPATRIOT AS BACKUP CANDIDATE

KUALA LUMPUR — The Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight between BN, PAS and PKR, despite PKR’s hiccup this morning when its candidate Datin Tan Yee Kew accidentally left her identification card (IC) at home.
Tan will be battling the seat against Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Seri Yew Teong Look and PAS’ Razali Tumiran this coming May 9.
Speaking to the media after nominations were closed for the seat today, Tan said she was surprised to have found her MyKad missing at the last-minute before entering the nomination centre.
“I was grateful the officer had acted wisely to accept the photocopy of my IC to save time to do the verifications,” she said.

Tan Yee Kew gets friend to run as backup
KUALA LUMPUR: A man wearing a PKR shirt, came to the nomination centre at SMK Wangsa Melawati, to register himself as a candidate at the last minute.
He is apparently a friend of PKR candidate Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew and her plan B in case Tan’s nomination form was not accepted.
The man named See Toh Sun Jang, is believed to contest as independent candidate if Tan’s nomination form is rejected.
“He is from my camp. If my nomination form is accepted, he will withdraw from the general elections.
“I was told by the RO that my photocopy IC is accepted but we still have to wait for the RO’s official announcement,” she said in a brief interview before an EC official ushered the media away.
