RM870K GE14 SCAM: MANHUNT ON FOR USNO BARU MEMBER WHO RAN AWAY WITH CANDIDATES DEPOSITS

KUALA LUMPUR – Police are looking for a member of the United Sabah National Organisation (Usno Baru) who was reported to have absconded with RM870,000 in party funds.
The money was meant to be paid as deposits for Usno Baru candidates in the 14th general election on nomination day last Saturday, The Star reported today.
The daily also reported Sabah police commissioner Datuk Ramli Din confirming a report had been filed last Saturday against the Usno member by his party colleagues.
According to the news report, Usno Baru supreme council member John Kisil said his party president Dulli Tiaseh had handed the funds to a member who was supposed to pass it on to the candidates on nomination day.
Usno Baru was planning to contest in all 60 state seats and 26 parliamentary seats, including the federal territory of Labuan.
However, the unnamed member was nowhere to be seen when Dulli and the other party members turned up at the Election Commission (EC) office in Kota Kinabalu last Saturday.
The EC permitted the party time up to 11.59pm the same day to submit payment for its candidates, but Usno Baru wasn’t able to do so.
As a result, only the Balung and Merotai state seat candidates were able to contest as they were able to come up with their own deposits.
