'Victimised' and fearing arrest, Jamal seeks refuge in oil palm estate

Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos has gone missing once again. He was supposed to present himself at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters this evening.
However, the firebrand politician later released a video recorded in an oil palm estate, stating that he did not show up at the police headquarters due to concerns that he would be arrested.
"I am worried that when they get me, they would not give me the opportunity to be with the people and to grow our democracy as a politician," he added.
He said the police would likely put him through a cycle of being arrested and remanded.
'Not a criminal'
In the seven-minute clip, Jamal, who accused the current government of victimising him, also declared that he was neither a criminal nor a terrorist, but was being treated as such.
He also claimed that the MACC and police, under pressure by the Harapan government, had raided his home, his mother's home, his office, and other locations linked to him.
He further said that he had been blacklisted from leaving the country.
On May 25, Jamal went missing after being charged at the Ampang Puteri Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, with regard to a protest where he smashed beer bottles in front of the state secretariat building in Shah Alam.
His bail was processed when he absconded.
The following day, he released an audio recording claiming that it was a misunderstanding.
The police are also investigating the red shirts' leader for a firearms offence.
In the video, Jamal explained that his beer-smashing stunt was in protest of what he claimed were plans by the Selangor government to organise a beer festival.
He also claimed that a photograph purportedly showing him with a pistol by his side while carrying a child was photoshopped.
"That's not me. That picture had been edited. The head and the body are different," he said. -Mkini
