WHEN WILL UMNO LEARN – NAJIB IS THEIR DEATH BLOW: FUNDING FOR ALL FUNDING STOPPED AFTER CASH SEIZED IN NAJIB RAIDS – UMNO LEADER

KUALA LUMPUR – An Umno leader verified that party divisions will no longer receive monthly stipends as stated in a letter being shared online.
Umno supreme council member and Sri Gading division chief Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi told Malay Mail he received the circular dated May 22, asserting that Umno’s finances were now restricted after police seized RM114 million in 26 different foreign currencies from two condominiums occupied by former president Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s children.
Umno later claimed the money along with another half a million ringgit seized from Najib’s personal mansion to be party funds held by him while he had still been president.
“There is a circular that stated all Umno divisions will no longer receive the monthly allocations. I received the circular yesterday from the secretary-general,” he said, referring to Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor.
“Since we are now the Opposition and when the president resigned, all this while the fund had come from him. Now the money is with the police so the funds are limited.”
Ab Aziz said he understands Umno’s current situation and trusted acting president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resolve the matter.
“Zahid just took over the leadership knowing very well what has happened was sudden, the transition period is still being streamlined,” he said.
The circular sighted by Malay Mail was signed by Tengku Adnan and told the divisions to carry on its operations as usual.
Tengku Adnan could not be reached for comment.
Last week, Umno requested that police return the millions seized from Najib, claiming these were party funds that it urgently needed for the rebuilding process following its 14th general election defeat.
The Umno Strategic Communications Unit claimed the funds were “donations” for elections and Umno’s management, but did not state if it meant part or all of the money seized from Najib.
Police later confirmed its May 17 raid on three luxury condominium units at Pavilion Residences linked to Najib yielded 35 bags of cash amounting to RM114 million in 26 different currencies.
Investigators also seized hundreds of designer bags, jewellery and luxury watches from the former PM.
