Agriculture Ministry, Fama, deny involvement in Jualan Harapan Rakyat

The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry and the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) have denied any involvement in a Jualan Harapan Rakyat programme held yesterday.
The ministry clarified that the programme was organised by the Muslim Consumers' Association (PPIM) and the Malay Chambers of Commerce (DPMM) to provide fresh goods to Malaysians at affordable prices.
In separate statements, both the ministry and Fama said they welcomed such programmes meant to help Malaysians cope with rising living costs, but prohibited their respective logos being used without authorisation.
"The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry encourages any quarters who wish to hold such programmes.
"However, the ministry feels that the organisers were not sensitive to the act of using the ministry's official logo in a privately-organised programme.
"Unauthorised use of the ministry's logo can cause confusion and send the wrong message to the public,” the statement read.
The ministry has asked the organisers to stop using the logos immediately, and warned of further action if it reoccurred.
The denial came after Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman ticked off Pakatan Harapan yesterday for using the ministry's logo in the programme, banners of which also bore the coalition's arrow symbol.
Syed Saddiq said the coalition should not use government machinery for party events. - Mkini
