All transfers, promotions within Education Ministry frozen

Education Minister Maszlee Malik announced today that all transfers of teachers and officers from state and district levels will be frozen immediately, pending a review and investigations.
Maszlee said this was due to reports of party politics elements within state and district education offices. He said this at a press conference held at the Higher Education Ministry in Putrajaya.
"This is very disappointing to me because I do not want 'narrow-minded' party politics to influence educational institutions in the country.
"I hope Malaysians will get a clear message that we will not compromise on any attempt to bring in unhealthy elements into the national education administration.
"There are those who seem to be deliberately preventing institutional reforms by the Pakatan Harapan administration," Maszlee said.
The minister has also instructed senior Education Ministry officers to review all promotions and transfers that occurred within the last two months.
Asked by reporters, the minister declined to reveal the number of teachers and officers affected.
However, he hinted that the most number of staff affected were from three northern states and one East Coast state.  Mkini
