Dr M: Action can't be taken against Taib Mahmud as no formal complaint lodged

JAKARTA: Action cannot be taken against Sarawak Governor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud for his alleged corrupt acts because no formal complaint has been lodged, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic).
The Prime Minister said there was talk on the alleged corruption but no report has been lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
"For us to take action, there must be a report by someone. Up to this moment there was a lot of talk but no proper report, so we have not taken any action just yet.
"But if people of Sarawak people wish us to take action, they can make a charge or complaint and we will look into it," Dr Mahathir said during a special session with Malaysians living in Jakarta on Thursday (June 28) night.
The Prime Minister is in Jakarta on Friday (June 29) for talks with President Joko Widodo.
During the question and answer session, a Malaysian from Sarawak said while he admired the Pakatan Harapan Government's action in going after alleged embezzlement in 1MDB, Sarawakians are hoping the Federal Government through MACC will take action against the former Chief Minister. -Star
