SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali today announced a special Aidilfitri payment of one month’s salary for the 17,109 state civil servants, to be paid on June 25.
He said the payment involved a total sum of RM31.2 million.
He added that the 755 civil servants in the seven federal agencies in the state would be paid RM1,000 each, also on June 25.
These agencies are the Legal Chambers’ Office, Forestry Department, Public Works Department, Agriculture Department, Social Welfare Department, Syariah Judicial Department, and Drainage and Irrigation Department.
“I have heard rumblings from federal officers in the state who feel that they have been marginalised while they work hard to develop Selangor with dedication and loyalty,” he said to reporters after attending a Ramadan event with civil servants here.
Azmin also said 10% of the special financial aid given to civil servants from Grade 44 upwards would be channelled to Tabung Harapan Negara.
“Civil servants in Grade 44 and above are called upon to join in the noble effort to reduce the country’s debt burden. Therefore 10% of the special financial aid given to each of them will be channelled to the fund,” he said.
On the appointment of the new Selangor menteri besar, Azmin said the candidate did not need to be a state executive council member but could also be from among the state assemblymen.
“We might choose one of the assemblymen – we have 51 Pakatan Harapan assemblymen in Selangor. We have some candidates for menteri besar and their names will be submitted to the sultan of Selangor soon,” he said. -FMT
