Yoursay: The ‘clown face’ returns, and so does the circus

YOURSAY | ‘Less Evita and Juan Perón, more Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos.’
Kangkung: Artist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin is someone we have to thank for speaking up for us through his artwork. He left his comfort zone to fight against tyranny while many of us kept quiet.
Anonymous_1e23ccf0: Fahmi, I salute you for your stand. It made it much harder for former PM Najib Razak and his motley crew to browbeat us with people like you around.
Ordinary Citizen: So the hunter becomes the hunted, serves him right. Even artists and cartoonists suffered under Najib’s corrupt reign.
He threw everything at citizens - arrests for sedition, GST, election fraud, press suppression, etc. It is hard to have any sympathy for his current predicament.
4Malaysia: Najib must also be very upset that while he has been arrested and charged for his alleged crimes, PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad is getting off scot-free.
Gerard Lourdesamy: Actor and director Ellie Suriati Omar should be charged for public disorder along with the rest of the crowd that created a commotion in the lobby of the Kuala Lumpur court complex.
The whole protest was orchestrated by Umno ultra-nationalists. For them, Najib is the saviour of the Malay race and the Muslim religion because, I suppose, corruption and abuse of power are supposed to be virtues nowadays?
Their understanding of democracy and the rule of law is that corrupt leaders must be allowed to oppress and suppress the rakyat so long as their supporters are rewarded with a lot of ‘dedak’.
The attorney-general (AG) is entitled to give a press conference in English if he wants to. Furthermore, court proceedings can be conducted in the English language in the interests of justice.
The crowd was utterly racist - their anger being directed at the race and religion of the AG.
On the next occasion Najib is charged, police and the FRU (Federal Reserve Unit) should provide a security cordon around the court building and only allow lawyers, family members and the press to enter. This was done during PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's trials.
The mob mentality of Umno confirms that the party has no future in this country and that the majority of Malays will not relate to a party that condones and supports corrupt leaders.
S: There is nothing wrong in expecting the AG, or any public servant for that matter, to speak in Bahasa Malaysia.
But actor and director Ellie lacks class. And she was not talking loudly, as she claimed, but was shouting.
In any event, good to know the AG will be brushing up on his Bahasa Malaysia soon.
Fyddeep: For all of the race rhetoric, why were all the mega projects put on hold by the Harapan government given to Chinese companies?
Did Ellie protest the RM81 billion East Coast Rail Line project? The two mega pipeline projects? Is Najib such a good caretaker of the Malay community? What do you think, Ellie?
Anonymous_3e21: I saw MO1’s (Malaysian Official 1) so-called “hot shot” lawyer speaking to the media on TV, and there was not a single word of Bahasa Malaysia. Is Ellie going to protest that too?
Anonymous 2436471476414726: Apparently Ellie has just emerged from living as a hermit in some jungle hideout. She is totally unaware of the 1MDB and SRC International scandal.
She must also be unaware of the cash and luxury items found from residences linked to Najib amounting to some RM1.1 billion.
By the way, civilised people do not create a ruckus in the courthouse. But then, if she just emerged from the jungle, she probably doesn’t know this either.
Bogus Warrior: Clearly, Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor fancies herself an Evita Perón, asking us not to cry for her. No, Rosmah, you’re Imelda Marcos and Najib is Ferdinand.
Besides, don’t you remember that Juan Perón was eventually overthrown?
Classical Liberal: Rosmah doesn’t have to worry. I wasn’t planning to shed a single tear.
Anon85471: “I am here to provide my utmost support to him. He is the best prime minister Malaysia has seen. If possible, we want him to become prime minister again,” Ellie said.
Is Ellie one of those not fortunate enough to be exposed to the internet and international affairs? Does she not know what is meant by the US Department of Justice’s term "the world's biggest kleptocracy"?
This lack of awareness, and self-awareness, is truly fascinating.
Anonymous_b497ffa7: So Ellie think Najib took care of the welfare of the Malays and Islam during his tenure as prime minister? Really? Let’s wait until the end of this trial to see if she was right.
Poor soul, Ellie can’t see why Najib was prosecuted for all the money that came into his possession.
Money that could have truly taken care of the welfare of poor and deserving Malays, rather than fattening connected fat cats.
RKR: This is the problem with Malays like Ellie Suriati Omar. They cannot see that Umno has suppressed the Malays for 61 years.
There are many Malays who can't afford a decent life because the elites in Umno took everything for themselves and blamed the non-Malays for their malaise.
Frankie: I did shed some tears - from being overjoyed over Najib being charged. - Mkini
