I'm ready to cooperate in Scorpene probe, says Razak Baginda

Former political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda today said that he is ready to assist MACC in fresh investigations into the government's Scorpene submarines deal.
This was following the anti-graft body's reopening of their probe into alleged corruption in the purchases.
Razak was one of those who had been implicated in the case in which kickbacks were allegedly paid for the purchase of the three submarines from a French supplier in 2002.
"In any event, I am always ready to cooperate with the authorities if called upon in any investigation," he said in a text message today.
Razak was responding to Malaysiakini's request for comments after sources revealed that MACC was looking to call in several people for questioning over the deal including him.
Investigators had earlier today recorded a statement from former premier Najib Abdul Razak at its headquarters in Putrajaya where Najib reportedly spent four hours inside.
Razak was a former close associate of Najib, who was the defence minister at the time the submarine deal was sealed between the federal government and French supplier DCN International SA (DCNI).
The deal also involved Spanish supplier Izzar Cons Trucciones Navales, and Malaysian service provider Perimekar Sdn Bhd which was owned by Razak at the time.

It was reported in 2012 that French public prosecutors probing the deals found evidence that Najib had allegedly sought US$1 billion (then RM3 billion) for Perimekar from DCNI. - Mkini
