Usno Baru elected office-bearers yesterday, after five-year hiatus

The new United Sabah National Organisation (Usno Baru) party elected its office-bearers yesterday, ending a five-year hiatus which stemmed from internal squabbles.
The new party, which was registered in 2013, held its annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday, at which the majority of its original pro-tem committee members, who attended the meeting, elected Ibrahim Linggam as their president.
According to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Ibrahim obtained the support of eight out of the 10 committee members present to defeat the party's pro-tem president, Dulli Tiaseh.
Usno Baru held the AGM yesterday after receiving the instruction from the Registrar of Society to hold the meeting within a month from Nov 7. The meeting lasted two hours.
“We’re glad it’s all over. Now, it’s a new beginning for us and soon we will start going around to recruit members,” Ibrahim was quoted by FMT as saying.
The old Usno was founded in 1967 by Datu Mustapha Harun, before it was deregistered by the RoS in 1996. - Mkini
