Hi folks. I could not update the blog. I have been under the weather the past two days. Bad sore throat, some temperature and just terribly yukky. Much better now - not that it should matter to anyone.

I have some things to say about Cameron Highlands - but later. It deserves its own post. Just a one liner for now. I think all that talk about Hishamuddin Hussein bringing 25 or 30 UMNO MPs to join Bersatu has just gone out the window. The equation has to be reset.

I used to have a reader from Iran who would send me similar vidoes about Iran but he has gone quiet. 

In the video above the shia folks are mourning the massacre of the prophet's grandson Imam Hussein. This is in the month of Muharram.  Their history says that 1400 years ago Hussein was killed by the forces of Muawiyah. 

This is a ritual of lamentation and penance. The lament is that they (the people in the video) were not there to save Hussein. The chest beating is part of the penance.  They are basically saying 'Never again'. 

This is the flower of their youth - healthy young men dedicated to an ancient history which none of them witnessed or really know anything about.  They can slap their chests until it is blood red.

Imam Hussein had an older brother Hassan  who lived quite a luxurious life until he was poisoned by one of his wives.  

From what I have seen of the Shias, in their commitment and intensity in their faith the Shias are quite unmatched.  Dont mess with them.  Talk to them.
