Family almost fell apart after Altantuya's death, says father

Shaariibuu Setev said today he was responsible for shouldering all of his family's finances after the death of his daughter, Altantuya.
An emotional Shaariibuu told the High Court in Shah Alam that their family has almost fallen apart since the Mongolian model's death in 2006.
"I feel like we all died with her," said Shaariibuu, who picked up a handkerchief to wipe his eyes before continuing to testify in an RM100 million civil suit filed by Altantuya's family a year after her death.
Among others, Shaariibuu said Altantuya's two sons – aged eight and three at the time of her death– had moved in to live with him shortly after.
Describing his late daughter as educated and reliable, Shaariibuu said Altantuya had financially supported their entire family, particularly for treatment of her younger son who had physical impairments.
"With my age and my wife's age and my earning capacity, I could not do as much as she did," the retired university professor told the court.
Altantuya's youngest son, Altanshagai Munkhtulga, was born with cerebral palsy and was disabled from a young age.
He died at the age of 15 in 2017.
