Husam: PAS-Umno cooperation akin to buffalo saving a trapped crocodile

The cooperation between PAS and Umno is futile as it does not have a clear basis, said Kelantan Pakatan Harapan chairperson Husam Musa.
Elaborating, the Amanah vice-president likened the scenario to a buffalo trying to save a trapped crocodile.
"When the crocodile cries out for help when trapped, the buffalo, which comes to its rescue, will end up being eaten by the same crocodile.
"In today's context in Malaysia, PAS and Umno are working together without explaining the very basis of their cooperation," he told the media after attending the Kelantan Harapan's dialogue session with a media group in Kota Bharu, last night.
He was responding to a question on the cooperation between opposition parties Umno and PAS, which, analysts say, have borne fruit in the form of BN's victory in the Cameron Highlands by-election, last Saturday.
BN candidate Ramli Mohd Nor defeated Harapan's M Manogaran with a majority of 3,238 votes.
Husam said PAS had, in the past, put up conditions in working with the now-defunct Semangat 46 (S46), and DAP.
"The condition was that S46 should accept Islam as the way of life, and during Pakatan Rakyat, it was, DAP should allow PAS to continue its policies.
"But during the cooperation with Umno, we don't hear (PAS) lining up any policies, any basis, for a political cooperation," he said.
This would ultimately result in the failure of PAS' original struggle, he added.
Husam, who is also a senator, said he felt vindicated as he had been accused of slandering about cooperation between PAS and Umno.
"I was sacked for making the allegation, but now the cooperation between PAS and Umno is an open secret, and now we see videos uploaded by hardcore PAS supporters happily voting for BN.
"So, what I have been saying all this while is true, and it has become a reality," said Husam. - Mkini
