Johor cop's threat - 'Pay or your brother will die' - under probe

The Johor police are investigating a video clip that has gone viral, which purportedly depicts one of their officers flashing his weapon and attempting to extort money from a man.
According to Johor deputy police chief Mohd Kamarudin Md Din, one of the persons in the video identified himself as a police officer attached to the Kulai district contingent.
"The Johor police are aware of the matter and will investigate it because it has brought the police into disrepute.
"The matter will be thoroughly investigated and action will be taken against senior police personnel," he said.
Mohd Kamarudin also called on witnesses in the incident to step forward and assist in the police investigations.
The two-minute-32-second video clip purportedly depicts a man being extorted by a police officer, who spewed expletives and racial slurs.
Based on the conversation between the two individuals, the victim was said to have owed the police personnel RM50,000 and had only paid off RM20,000.
The so-called police personnel warned the victim, twice, that his brother, who was incarcerated, would die if the sum was not paid. - Mkini
