Rafizi acquitted of criminal defamation in Tabung Haji case



PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has been acquitted today by the Magistrate's Court in Kuala Lumpur on the charge of criminal defamation over Tabung Haji.

This came after his lawyer Md Yunos Sharif informed magistrate Umzarul An Nur Umar that the Attorney-General's Chambers had accepted the letter of representation sent.
DPP Nadia Zulkefli confirmed that the prosecution has decided to drop the case.
Following this, Yunos applied for an acquittal, to which Umzarul agreed.

It was reported then that he had hired Yunos and a representation letter would be sent following the investigations conducted by the authorities on Tabung Haji.
He was ordered by Umzarul to enter defence last September.
Normally a representation letter is sent to apply to reduce or drop a charge.
The former Pandan MP claimed trial to defaming the pilgrimage fund, through an article titled "Analisa Kewangan Tabung Haji 2009-2015" (Tabung Haji Financial Analysis 2009-2015) which was uploaded onto his Facebook account on Feb 9, 2016.
Rafizi allegedly committed the offence at Level 18, Bangunan Tabung Haji, 201, Jalan Tun Razak at about 9am on Feb 18, 2016. - Mkini
