Dr M to table motion to change PAC chief

After weeks of protests from the public and lawmakers, the government has finally decided to move a motion in Parliament to replace the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Ronald Kiandee with BN Parit Sulong MP Noraini Ahmad.
The motion appears as item number nine on the Order Paper of Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
According to the Order Paper, the motion will be tabled by the Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad himself.
Noraini, who is also Umno Wanita chief, was appointed a PAC member in August 2018, replacing the former PAC chief Hasan Arifin.
The three-term Parit Sulong MP was named by BN as the new PAC chairperson after Kiandee, who was from Sabah Umno, defected to Bersatu on March 15. Kiandee is Beluran MP.
In its manifesto, Pakatan Harapan pledged to pick an opposition lawmaker to head the committee.
Mahathir, who had insisted on keeping Kiandee as PAC chief, has apparently given in after members of his ruling coalition urged him to abide by the manifesto. - Mkini
