Kepong MP gives Ismail Sabri 24 hours to retract 'waging jihad' statement

PETALING JAYA: Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has given Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob 24 hours to retract a statement that Umno and PAS were "waging jihad" on Pakatan Harapan.
Lim said that if Ismail Sabri failed to retract the statement, he would demand that the police take action for the "malicious and seditious hate speech".
"His statement has hurt the feelings of both members of the civil service and the rakyat, and his only option is to apologise to the nation.
"His 'jihad' provocation could lead to bloodshed and innocent people being sacrificed because of his lie that the Pakatan government is anti-Malay and anti-Islam," Lim said in a statement on Monday (April 1).
Lim said this could be Umno's "last straw" as inciting the supporters of both parties to wage jihad on the federal government was tantamount to going against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who appointed the Prime Minister.
He added that Ismail Sabri's claim that the Pakatan government was "anti-Malay" and "anti-Islam" was typical of Barisan Nasional.
He claimed that the former ruling coalition's survival in politics hinged on telling outright lies and spreading hatred with the aim of tearing apart the harmonious fabrics of the country's multi-racial society.
Ismail Sabri supposedly made the statement in Sabak Bernam on Sunday (March 31) during a joint Umno-PAS gathering.- Star
