PAKATAN Harapan’s Rantau candidate has vowed to ensure more constituents are able to own homes should he win the April 13 by-election.
Dr S. Streram said he will discuss with Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun on continuing housing projects, such as the People’s Housing Project and PR1MA, in the state seat.
“I want voters to own homes here,” he said during a walkabout near the Sendayan community hall in Seremban.
He also proposed a free transport service to and from the Rantau clinic.
“I was told some residents have to leave their homes as early as 6am to get a ride to the clinic. We will study the possibility of a free bus service… this is important, especially for senior citizens who have no income.”
On the Rantau clinic’s land ownership issue, he said he is trying to get the centre moved to a nearby area, like Bandar Ekar.
“I was told that there is land in Bandar Ekar that can be used to upgrade the building. We will investigate why the process of upgrading the clinic cannot be undertaken… the area previously proposed, in Lenggeng, is too far.”
The Rantau by-election will see a four-cornered fight between Streram, Barisan Nasional’s Mohamad Hasan, and independents R. Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin.
