KOTA KINABALU: Photos and information falsely accusing Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal of allowing cock fighting in Sabah are being widely circulated.
The chief minister's political secretary Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas said this was just a tactic to smear the image of the state government.
"The chief minister has never approved of any cock fighting or allowed such activities to go on, " she said in a statement Monday (July 29).
According to Rampas, the photos had been edited to fit in logos of various state departments, including the Sabah library, Immigration Department and Home Ministry, as well as that of Parti Warisan Sabah.
"The pictures were, in fact, taken from an event to launch the new state library in Tanjung Aru recently, " Rampas said.
She urged the public not to fall for unverified information and tactics that were clearly aimed at destroying the government's image.
"Please do not simply share and make viral something that has not been verified, " she added.- Star
