'It's a party matter' - Azmin shoots back on absenteeism

Mohamed Azmin Ali today shrugged off questions about his supposed absenteeism from key PKR meetings since his re-election as deputy president last November.
"What has this got to do with Malaysiakini? This is a matter of party management," he said when asked, before walking away from reporters.

The economic affairs minister said this when met at the sidelines of a prayer event for hajj pilgrims from his constituency of Gombak.
Last night, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that Azmin has not attended central leadership council (MPP) and political bureau meetings since November.
Saifuddin added that Azmin never stated the reasons for his absence.
According to Article 21.16 of the PKR constitution, any MPP member who fails to attend three council meeting consecutively without proper explanation is deemed to have resigned. The MPP reserves the right to enforce the clause.
Azmin's political secretary Muhammad Hilman Idham (photo), meanwhile, told reporters at the same function that the minister is preoccupied with his official duties.
"He had informed that he could not attend due to government business. As a minister, he has responsibilities.
"If he has time, he can attend. If not, he would be attending government meetings," noted the Gombak Setia assemblyperson.
Hilman only smiled when asked if he had a message to PKR on the matter.
Queried about Saifuddin's statement on Azmin's attendance, Hilman said: "Ask the secretary-general to check the records." - Mkini
