PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has launched Putrajaya Floria 2019 at the Botanical Garden here.
Also present at the event Friday (Aug 30) was the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
At the event, Sultan Abdullah also launched the latest collection of a new hybrid orchid that was named Vanda Queen Azizah Iskandar in honour of Tunku Azizah.
Vanda Queen Azizah Iskandar was registered with the International Cultivar Registration Authority on July 17.

The royal couple also spent an hour visiting the booths at the festival, accompanied by Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abd Samad and Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim.

The festival, which is in its 11th year, displays one million flowers, including more than 500 varieties of orchid, more than 100 bonsai collections, and 70 showcase gardens of various designs.
Targeting 500,000 visitors, the Royal Floria Putrajaya will be open to the public from Saturday (Aug 31) until Sept 8, featuring orchids and bonsai plants as the theme this year.
This is the first time that the event is being held at the Botanical Garden in Precinct 1, after 10 years in Anjung Floria in Precinct 4.
Also an attraction is a water taxi that can transport visitors to the Botanical Park from various locations.
