Shahidan wants Hisham's appointment as BN sec-gen expedited

Perlis Umno chief Shahidan Kassim has thrown his support behind the party's Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein to be appointed as the new BN secretary-general.
"I am made to understand that MCA and MIC agree with Hishammuddin’s appointment as the BN secretary-general.
"If MCA and MIC agree, then Umno should not have any problems as what is important is a consensus decision.
"I feel Umno does not need to delay this any longer," Shahidan (photo) told Malaysiakini.

Shahidan, who is also the Arau MP, said Hishammuddin, who is the former defence minister, has enough experience to helm the position.
Putrajaya MP Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who is facing graft charges, is the current BN secretary-general and has held the position since before the 2018 general election.
Umno's Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz was appointed to the position of BN secretary-general after the coalition was defeated in the 14th general election.
However, the appointment was fiercely opposed by MCA and MIC and the position eventually fell back to Tengku Adnan. - Mkini
