President: Those who took internal issues to ROS will be cursed if MTUC is banned

Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) president Abdul Halim Mansor said those who brought up the group's internal issues to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) will be "cursed to the end" if MTUC ends up dissolved.
"I feel inside me not only worry but it is more than worry as I have said what and why MTUC is very important.
"To whom that make the report and carry internal issues to the authority will be cursed to the end if MTUC is banned and dissolved," Abdul Halim (photo) said to Malaysiakini today.
He pointed out again that MTUC is the only labour centre representing workers at an internal and international level.

MTUC's obligation and responsibilities are very great, he said, as they represent workers at the board member level of many government-linked companies such as the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and so on.
MTUC was supposed to hold a general council meeting on Dec 29 to discuss the notice of suspension from the ROS.
However, Abdul Halim said MTUC is banned from having any meetings within the 30-day suspension order and the Dec 29 meeting was postponed as directed.
"MTUC is waiting on the results of the investigation after we sent all the documents requested by the ROS in the Dec 26 meeting," he said.
In a statement recently, the ROS said they received a complaint on July 2 about mismanagement in MTUC and opened an investigation the following month.
The ROS said on Dec 18 that it had issued a notice giving the MTUC 30 days to explain why it should not be deregistered.
The ROS later confirmed that it had suspended the MTUC to ensure that no other rules were broken by the MTUC pending an explanation.
The ROS is expected to complete its probe against MTUC by early January. - Mkini
