“Hishamuddin and Azmin are well known Trojan horses of Mahathir, the former to persuade Umno MPs to deflect en bloc to Mahathir’s party Bersatu and the latter to split and weaken PKR.
The objective is obviously to bolster Mahathir’s power to ditch the agreed power transition to Anwar that will otherwise dash his plan of restoring his former glory as the unchallenged autocrat to implement the Umno political agenda.
Umno President Zahid has hitherto been vocal against this scheme of Mahathir to dismantle the current Umno in this fashion, but his latest move to shield Hishamudddin from disciplinary action has now raised question over his such resolve.
Is Zahid’s latest move a manifestation of the famous Malaysian political game of “I help you, you help me” being played?”
