Exercise caution when engaging in online political debates - IGP

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador today reminded netizens to exercise caution when sharing views on the current political situation.
He called on all parties to mind their manners on social media, and more importantly, ensure their postings or comments do not contravene laws that could jeopardise public order and national security.
“There are fiery debates (on the political situation) on social media and temperatures are rising.
“As such, I am reminding all parties to mind their acts and maintain decorum when engaged in (online) debates,” he told Bernama.

Abdul Hamid said the police respect the people’s right to voice out their views and participate in political activities as long they do not endanger the country’s peace and stability.
"I am also issuing a warning to those trying to rope in foreign elements to come into the country to cause trouble.
“The police will go all out to deal with these attempts as they are akin to treason,” he said.
He said the process of forming the new government was still being actively carried out according to the Federal Constitution.
“The people need to be patient for just a little longer... InsyaAllah, the police stand ready with the assurance that this process (formation of government) will not be disrupted by any party.
