CORONAVIRUS | The Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador today visited Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat Selangor where it is currently under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
"I am here to inspect whether the police on the ground have played their roles in ensuring that this place follows the order by 100 percent.
"I am satisfied, and now we are waiting for other agencies to bring food supply and conduct medical screening (to villagers) as how it was done in Simpang Renggam," he told the media at one of the roadblocks.
For the record, Kampung Dato Ibrahim and Bandar Baharu Dato Ibrahim in Simpang Renggam, Johor has been under the EMCO since March 29 after it reported a spike of Covid-19 cases.
The similar action was also taken to areas from Batu 21 to Batu 24 of Sungai Lui today after the Health Ministry confirmed that there were 71 positive Covid-19 cases in the areas.
They were amongst the 274 residents of the Maahad Tahfiz AnNabawiyyah.
The affected areas in Sungai Lui will be under EMCO until April 13.
Abdul Hamid also said police were utilising the drone technology to inspect those areas and would share relevant information with other agencies in providing assistance to the villagers.
"So far, the villagers appeared calm. There's no trouble reported.
"Police have made an announcement to advise them to be patient and stay at home," he said.
Under the EMCO, the villagers were instructed to only stay at home. The Welfare Department is tasked to provide them with food during the EMCO.
While no visitors are allowed to enter the areas. - Mkini
