Terengganu folk to take turns using the road according to car plate number

CORONAVIRUS | Terengganu folk will take turns to commute on the road based on their car plate numbers beginning tomorrow until the end of the movement control order on April 14.
Terengganu police chief Roslee Chik said the new rule will be enforced following the second phase of the order tomorrow.

He said the rule is intended to limit the number of vehicles on the road.

"Beginning April 1, only vehicles with the registration numbers which end with an odd number are allowed to be on the road.

"For the following day, vehicles with the registration numbers which end with an even number will take their turn while the former group will not be allowed to be on the road.

"If there are people who disobey this rule, they will be asked to go home," Roslee told Malaysiakini.

He said the new rule does not mean that they can go unnecessarily when they have their turn.

"The police will also ensure that those who have their turn can only go out once and the police will check their grocery shopping receipts.

"This is because we find that there are some people who intentionally put a bag of grocery items in their cars to deceive the police into thinking that they just returned from buying groceries," he said.

Roslee also stressed that only one person is allowed in a vehicle. - Mkini
