39 new Covid-19 cases, highest since June 15

PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry today announced 39 new Covid-19 cases, the highest single day tally since June 15, when the country recorded 41 cases.
They bring the overall infection count to 8,943, with 212 active cases still receiving treatment as of noon today.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were six recoveries and no new deaths. The death toll remains at 124 and the total number of patients discharged so far stands at 8,607.
Noor Hisham said 11 of the new cases were imported while the other 28 were local transmissions.
Of the 28 local transmissions, 22 involved Malaysians. Except for one patient in Kedah, the rest of the local transmissions were in Sarawak (19) and Sabah (two).
The Sentosa cluster in Sarawak recorded nine new cases today and the Kuching engineering cluster had four new patients.
Noor Hisham also said two new clusters had been detected – the PUI Sivagangga cluster in Kedah (five cases) and the Satok cluster in Sarawak (four).
The index case of the PUI Sivagangga cluster was a Malaysian permanent resident who tested positive after returning from India on July 13. He went on to infect four people.
The Satok cluster was detected after tests on 225 operators at a market in Satok, Kuching, found four positive cases.
